About Us

We provide a wide variety of activities for inside and outdoor use.

Arts and crafts

Include painting, glueing, cooking, drawing, collage and scissor work.

Construction
LEGO, MOBILO, STICKLBRICKS, DUPLO and others.

Music and Movement
Singing, dancing, games and imaginative play (ie domestic toys).
Numbers, Shapes and Colours
These activities are practised daily, preparing the child for the next stage of education - teaching, then good hand and eye co-ordination, this also includes Phonic Scheme learning i.e. Jolly Phonics.

Language Activities
Stories, poetry, rhymes and story or music on tapes.

Communication Skills
To listen to stories, poems, rhymes, music, other children and adults.
Talking to other adults and children, telling stories and rhymes.
To provide a vocabulary enriching and stimulating environment.
Use of Dramatic play and puppets

Early Reading
To foster enjoyment in reading with pre-reading activities, matching games, matching pictures to words, Sharing story books and picture books with an adult.
To broaden and increase each child’s reading experience.

Handwriting
Left to right eye co-ordination. To encourage confident pencil control. To correct letter formation. Writing own name unaided. Tracing. Writing patterns.

Letters
To teach the sounds (phonics) each letter makes first, rather than the name. Each letter has its own character to help the children learn the sounds with a range of puzzles and games to support this policy.

Mathematics
To develop awareness of number concept and recognition.
To provide opportunities for discoveries and concept building concerning weight, volume, grouping, sorting and selection.
To develop pattern recognition.

Measuring and Weighing
Measuring, time, calendar, seasons, days of the week, months of the year, the clock ‘O’ clock and half-past, timing activities.
Language of weight, heavier than, lighter than. Activities leading to balancing and the discovery of heavier than and lighter than.

Moral Development
To create a climate of understanding and patience in working out what is right and wrong.
To be fair and sensitive in correction of unacceptable behaviour.
To value each child so they develop good personal values.

Knowledge and Understanding of the World
To develop a knowledge and understanding of their environment, and how to respect it.
To promote an understanding of other people, culture and features of the natural and man-made world.

Painting and the Visual Arts
To provide enjoyment and freedom to express with a variety of materials, ie. clay, paint, wood etc.
To encourage and develop the imagination and creativity.

Percussion
To listen to a range of various kinds of music. Encourage the child to make its own music.
To explore sounds and rhythms with professional and home made instruments and the child’s own voice.

Physical Development
To develop fine manipulative skills including cutting, drawing, colouring and writing.
To develop gross manipulative skills, jumping, hopping, skipping, gymnastics, dancing and balancing.

Science
To provide new opportunities for discovery through sensory experiences, observation, smell, touch, listening and taste. Topics include, cooking, water, animals, exploring how things work.
To provide opportunities for inventive thinking.

Social and Emotional DevelopmentTo provide a safe and secure environment for the child to develop.To provide the child with pleasurable experiences.To provide opportunities for the child’s own sense of achievement.To build on each child’s confidence and sense of identity.To promote social skills.To encourage a sense of social and self-confidence in each child.To encourage communication and co-ordination with other children and adults.

Opening Hours:

7am till 6pm, Monday to Friday for full time & part time children (Closed Bank Holidays).

The nursery offers very good value for money, where the children learn in a happy & cheerful atmosphere with lots of space to run & play.
All staff are fully qualified & provide a homely caring environment for all children aged between 2 & 5 years old, in addition we also provide after school care for children aged 5 to 8 years old.
